The trip of new mind 2012-this year, full of dullsville; challenges; and good opportunities, is going to end soon. If you ask me what the biggest gain is in 2012, I would tell you---clear career programming- firstly perfect my knowledge’s structure, then take a bigger notch. If before you asked me what my career plan is, I am just speechless to you. In past seven years, there was only fooling around but constrainedly support family, sometimes, even neglected duty of dad and hubby. However, no one is perfect, everyone has an Achille’s heel, but I do not really want it to be my excuse of “sin”. Well , cut to the chase, today I would like to share my experiences for period of new job. As you know, three month ago, I got a new job-SPE(Supplier process engineer ), which is the expectation of career plan. I like this job, not only due to career plan, but also able to go on improving-I can go on getting fresh knowledge and improving English ability. As like most of rookies, when I came there, it really made me surprised and full of visions, however I often hear and see something about world-class company, but it is really as difficult as chalk and cheese to experience by myself. New company has picturesque environment, good factory building’s design; aside from that, I can enjoy the harmonious enterprise culture as well-this is the first impression, there would be good management for company operation I thought at the moment… 25,Oct,2012- this is a special day and red-letter day, because I would start my new career trip in a new place. All is fresh---new environment; new workmates; new work atmosphere and new work procedure …anyway I am a green hand here, no matter I was time-tested before, but here I have to re-start---start my career programming. I am the lucky dog, when I check in first day, our director’s assistant already arranged well everything---new laptop, new desk…(tittering), there was nothing lucky in previous check-in day. First day, my boss, who is Czech and good at English, just was taking me to visit around, introducing me to relevant workmates. I might not have good memory, after that, there was no any name in my mind. If you ask me what the words I spoke frequently ,”nice to meet you, I am Wilson”---I don't remember how many times I spoke to them. Actually, those were polite and casual , the importance is to catch the key point you think with regarding to your job---remember the head of department, because in coming work, I need their supports. Take it, during the work, you can not take all in the bag, remember the top guns of department, it benefits to make you go long well, and sometimes, you have to pay addresses to them against your will. Most of workmates are nice. To be familiar with distribution of business unit is a tough thing, there are many buildings I have to know their real positions. My job is very close concerned to engineering, main responsible for new project phase in. so I need to communicate with Engineering department. In order to know more about project, I requested engineering department to share the explosive view, then I can see the assembly view. In fact, there is a guidance for the job---SPQR(Supplier process qualification requirement), that means I am main charge of supplier quality management before MP. Our goal of job is to verify the component manufacturability & documented as early as possible starting at the ESB stage for ensure good quality parts consistently delivered to EB/QB/PR/MP and on-going production. This is a new procedure for supplier, there are some new requirements like PPAP in this procedure. In order to make sure all supplier understand SPQR requirements, when the project begins , I made a training course and visit each supplier, thus, in my qualifying period I often have business trip with my boss---US, Taiwan, and different cities in mainland. Via this training, I found however most of suppliers have got the certificate of TS, but when they really run SPQR for FMEA, MSA, Capability study, CP…etc. there are more or less issues, some of them don't understand to analyze CPK when the CP value is good, and CPK is out of requirement. For example, if one dimension’s CPK(requirement equal or more than 1.33) equals to 1.0, and CP value is 1.8, what would you do for this status? At the beginning, I found this is a powder metal part, and this dimension is formed by tool, in my opinion, for the new tool, and capability study from part, if CP value is good, that means this tool process is good, and found the CPK curve moves to one side, we just analyze datum that due to the new tool, so most of dimensions would be tight, normally, the designer would design the internal insert’s dimension to be tight with regarding to tool life cycle, therefore I accept this sample even though CPK out of requirement. Well , actually, my job is main about project management for phase in supplier. The importance of project management is to understand completely CTQ of part and schedule. When you push supplier to fit the schedule well, you must train them every single requirement for the project, and flexible to work; when you visit for training , you need to make an agenda to your supplier; when you get complaints of running a new procedure from supplier, you firstly understand what you want, and make yourself calm down; when you are paying visions because supplier has certificate of TS/ISO, you think they can completely do by it, please don't count chicks before they hatch…or you have to go back to the drawing board. Every stage of project you work, should be input to the clear schedule, often review it, in my project, there are three stages finished completely before MP(mass production), ESB(Engineering sample build)/EB(Engineering Build) and QB(Qualification build), for them , I have a Gantt Chart to display every single stage’s requirement I need supplier to finish, and you need to follow up step by step; for the similar components, you need to refer to lesson learnt… Job-hopping is not only a good opportunity, but also challenge risk. It is good saying that think twice before you leap, herewith, you must know what your goal is in your career, we call it career programming. When you can really overcome each kind of issues in your line, don't you scare the better job embrace you tightly? Once you have an obvious career plan, make an agenda and a schedule. When you feel obliged to perfect your weakness of career programming, and you have a good opportunity to get that knowledge, don't stop, even the salary of that job you only get is lower. Because several years late, you will get double pay. But be careful of being penny-wise and pound-foolish. You are always aware of employment marketing, not mean you always want to go for job-hopping, just know clearly about employment trend, then it benefits to adjust your agenda and schedule of career, meanwhile nip something bad in the bud. Today I would not like to state my probation period like a story, just want to tell you something as below: ---make an obvious career plan meanwhile find out the Achille’s heel of it ---make an agenda and schedule for your career plan, and follow up step by step ---don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish, understand to choose ---easy said than done, but you really need to do ---even the match you are clear, but they never stop paging
