OB TITLE: Quality Engineer - ODL Asia BUSINESS GROUP/DEPT: ODL Asia REPORTS TO: Quality Manager- ODL Asia Location: SuZhou
JOB DESCRIPTION Directly responsible for the execution of the Quality & Supplier Development Programs in ODL Asia's supply chain, to include suppliers and ODL-operated facilities. Coordinates quality efforts with ODL Asia Quality Manager, works with ODL Asia cross functional team and manufacture to ensure ODL is receiving best-in-class products, service, and pricing.
JOB SUMMARY Directs quality projects; critiques and makes recommendations on new and existing products for safety, design, processing and cost concerns; analyzes and coordinates the investigation of corrective actions; prepares and issues detailed reports; gathers, analyzes and makes recommendations on inspection and Quality Assurance activities; directs supplier quality development maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plans, implements and improves upon quality programs with an approach to lean, value-added systems. 2. Participates & leads Advanced Quality Planning (APQP) such as PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc. 3. Formulates and/or assists formulating quality system procedures and work instructions. 4. Evaluates processes/procedures and continuously improves upon ODL or Supplier processes to eliminate waste and improve controls which include assisting internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems. 5. Analyzes, audits, approves and verifies supplier's products, processes and quality systems to obtain maximum quality and value. 6. Serves as a resource by providing a disciplined problem solving approach by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered or preventing potential quality problems. 7. Monitors and controls cost, timing and other related aspects of projects. Develops cost quotations related to specifications, test equipment and gauge requirements. 8. Develops control plans that support process work instructions that may include written and visual aids. 9. Documents audit evidence clearly and concisely to support conclusions through prepared reports with recommendations. 10. Performs other duties as necessary in support of Quality Management System goals and objectives such as GR&R, first article of inspection, calibration programs, cost of quality, etc. 11. Participates as a member of ODL Asia team. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. 12. Support ODL Asia external sale project 13. Performs Other Duties as Assigned. May perform similar duties for suppliers and projects not related to items described above. COMPETENCIES 1. Industry Experience: 8 plus years; 2. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, mechanical or related field with demonstrated understanding of quality assurance practices; 3. Technical Experience: Demonstrated understanding of quality engineering principles, practices and procedures. (ISO 9001, QS 9000, TS 16949 standards understanding desirable); 4. Demonstrated ability to manage projects. Coordinate necessary resources and manage timing and implementation of programs/projects. Experience with APQP, PFMEA, SPC, Metrology, Blueprints, and Control Plans is required; 5. Computer Experience: Strong computer background with ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, and present information. (MS Environment with Word, Excel PowerPoint). Statistical software orientation is desirable; 6. Communications: English written and spoken fluently. Demonstrated communication skills both written & verbal to interact with various groups within the ODL organization and with the supply base; 7. Listens carefully when a team member has a question. Six Sigma black belt is a plus
