In JJF1001-1998 General Metrological Terms and Definitions, calibration is defined as a group of operations to determine the relationship between the quantity values indicated by measuring instruments or measuring systems, or the quantity values represented by physical measuring tools or reference materials, and the corresponding quantity values reproduced by standards under specified conditions.
Measuring instruments, measuring systems, physical measuring tools or reference materials, sometimes collectively referred to as measuring instruments, are collectively referred to as measuring equipment in this paper. In this way, calibration can be summed up as a group of operations to compare the measuring equipment with the measurement standard and determine the value and uncertainty of the calibrated measuring equipment.
The purpose of equipment calibration is to determine the magnitude of the indication error of the measuring equipment, and to connect the measurement value of the measuring equipment with the whole measurement traceability system through the measurement standard, so that the measurement value of the measuring equipment is traceable.
Basic requirements for equipment calibration
1) If the environmental conditions are calibrated in the verification (calibration) room, the environmental conditions shall meet the temperature, humidity and other requirements of the laboratory. If the calibration is carried out on site, the environmental conditions shall be subject to the conditions that can meet the on-site use of the instrument.
2) As a standard instrument for calibration, the error limit of the instrument shall be 1/3~1/10 of the error limit of the calibrated meter.
3) Although the personnel calibration is different from the verification, the personnel conducting the calibration shall also be subject to effective assessment and obtain corresponding qualification certificates. Only the certified personnel can issue calibration certificates and calibration reports, and only such certificates and reports are recognized.
